How to handle Uber pickup Lisbon airport and get to the city quickly

Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS)

Location: Alameda das Comunidades Portuguesas, 1700-111 Lisboa, Portugal

Welcome to beautiful, sunny Lisbon. You've landed and now it's time to get to your place of stay in or near the city center. The great thing about using Uber from the LIS airport is that there is an abundance of them, the duration of the wait time is decent, and they are inexpensive compared to other options. It only takes a 15 - 20 minute ride from the airport but navigating how to get picked up and where can be confusing, especially if you're tired from traveling. If you read the below, you'll be better prepared so you don't risk getting dropped several times in a row.

There are three options that show up when booking your ride:

1. Terminal 1 Kiss and Fly park

If your flight comes in here go upstairs to departures and select this option in the app. Go out the exit and you'll find yourself outside in the taxi area. Cross the street and you are at the T2 shuttle stop. Cross the street again and you’re at the T1 P1 Uber waiting area with railings and a sidewalk to gather while waiting. There are diagonal spots that drivers pull into to load you. Drivers pay to enter the area if spending more than 10 minutes. They are charged at their own expense as Uber doesn’t cover this. Because of the confusion on where to be picked up and this driver charge, drivers are sometimes left paying for passengers who aren’t at the selected location. This creates a scenario where the driver is waiting and paying and ends up canceling on you to get another passenger or you never hear back from them and you initiate the cancelation getting charged either way. Follow these directions to avoid that from happening and if it does be sure to dispute the fee.

(I had never heard of Kiss and Fly before but my friend told me it's the same thing as a park-and-ride lot.)

2. Terminal 1 P8

This is a short-term parking lot that you have to walk to, wouldn’t select this. Unsure why anyone would walk 8 minutes to this parking lot to get their Uber but imagine it may have to do with how crowded it can get at T1 P1.

3. Terminal 2

Only use this if your flight landed here. If for some reason you have to follow signs to get to T2, you’ll have to go outside departures and take a shuttle bus to get there. Don’t select this option in the app if you landed in T1.
